Chattanooga

Chattanooga is a beautiful little city. And a fantastic place to ride a bike! Thanks to the VeloVixens (not these guys in the photo to the right - they were just too cute to pass up snapping their photo), we had locals to ride with for our first two days. Day one was a long 5 hour ride, in sunshine, and unfortunately wind (which stayed the whole time we were there!). On our first day we climbed our first mountain! I think most of us would agreed we were suffering riding home into the wind, but it was a happy suffer, compared to the crappy weather we've had in Indiana, just to ride in shorts and sunshine was a blessing. Day 2 was an easy 3 hour ride, some Union Jack flag sitings, then some hiking. Monday saw Angela and I on our own. We selected a route from the bike club page. We set out to climb two mountains, Suck Creek Mountain and Signal Mountain. The north wind blew in our faces, snow flurries danced around, and we suffered some more. We finished feeling like we earned some bad ass points for this ride.

I hope we go back again, with more people, and more riding!

Tennesee Trip

3 women - 3 mountains!

We pedaled through snow flurries, wind, some sun, and mountains! Cheryl, Kim, and I (Angela) took a long weekend trip to the Georgia/Tennessee border (Flintstone, GA) to get in some Spring training for our upcoming events. I think our physical feats earn us an honorary membership to the prestigious club pictured below.
We were so busy riding, we didn't get to enjoy all of the amenities of Flintstone. Sadly, we missed business hours of the establishment up the road from Flintstone Fitness.

More details to come....stay tuned.

Hi, I'm Angela!

Thanks for visiting! My name is Angela. I'm 33 years old. I like long rides in the woods and dogs. I've been riding recreationally for about 5 years and started racing mountain bikes in 2006. I would like to thank my sponsor, the Bicycle Station, in Columbus, Indiana for giving me the opportunity to explore this new world of racing. Additionally, Morris Trucking has provided great leadership and organization as another sponsor.

I'm looking forward to 2008 and will be sharing the events from this Spring, Summer, Fall, & Winter--it just doesn't stop!

Welcome! This blog will chronicle the adventures of a few women who ride bikes. We live in Bloomington, IN. We ride road bikes and we ride mountain bikes. We also race our bikes. We love to ride bikes.

The blog contributors list may grow over time, but to start it is just Cheryl, Randi, and Angela. We will each introduce ourselves.

We'll post stories and pictures about our training rides, training trips, races, and whatever in life seems important, interesting, funny, or just plain silly.

I'll start. My name is Cheryl. I’m 41, I live in Bloomington, and I’m an addict. Kidding! Well I am slightly obsessive about training, and staying fit. So, maybe I am a little bit of an addict. Bloomington is a great place to live and train. For a small town, the number of cyclists is staggering. Think of the movie ‘Breaking Away’ and the Little 500, and you will know what I mean. Just a 5 minute ride from our homes and we are in rolling countryside. We may not have mountains, but we have hills. And plenty of them! We also have superb mountain bike trails right here in town at Wapehani. And just a 20 minute drive is the jewel of mountain bike trails in Indiana, Brown County State Park.

I also run, and swim. Which leads me to triathlons. I love to race xterra (off road) triathlons since I learned to mountain bike at the tender age of 39! Riding bikes is my favorite of the three sports, especially mountain biking.

Here are a few photos from a camping/mountain bike trip we made to Lake Hope State Park, OH last fall.
